I am a Clinical Professional Counselor Intern who provides psychotherapy and counseling to adults and adolescents with a wide variety of presenting problems. Some of my particular expertise and interest areas include:
• Grief and Loss
• Life Transitions
• Relationship Problems
• Trauma Experiences, in particular Childhood Interpersonal Trauma
I am passionate about psychotherapy and counseling, and I believe one should not feel alone when struggling to cope with daily problems and/or mental illness. My goal, therefore, is to assist clients through evidence-based practice and help them feel they are not alone.
I earned a Specialized Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from York University and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology at Yorkville University, both in Canada.
I am originally from Brazil and lived in Toronto, Canada for 15 years. I have moved to Henderson, Nevada a couple years ago and have been enjoying the heat since then. Growing up in Brazil and living in Toronto, one of the most multicultural cities in the world, has provided me with incredible multicultural experience which I gladly bring into therapy. I greatly enjoy spending time with my family and traveling; getting to know new places and different cultures.
My therapeutic approach is integrative including a psychodynamic and client-centered approach. I use a multicultural framework for learning about clients’ values, cultural background, and the circumstances that influence their lives. I see clients as experts on their own lives and utilize a collaborative approach where together we set treatment goals for making wanted changes. I work to create a warm and safe therapeutic environment as I believe the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client is of utmost importance. Lastly, I tailor therapy to meet the needs of each unique client.
I am bilingual (English/ Portuguese).
